SIMULATION OF ATMOSPHERIC DISPERSION OF GAS LEAKAGE CONCENTRATION USING NI LABVIEW SOFTWARE

ABSTRACT

There is always a risk of failure in any work activity that will result in the effect of losses. An example of work accidents in the chemical industry is a gas leakage. Leak devices containing toxic gases can be harmful to humans and the environment in the vicinity of the leak pollutants. Therefore, in anticipation of casualties on occupational accidents in the form of a gas leakage, in this final project we have simulated the concentration distribution of the gas that comes out from the equipments that leak using NI LABVIEW software in order to know how far the radius of leakage from the leakage point which is not safe zone. From this research showed that the plume model and puff model have different gas distribution. On the distribution without building downwash effects, the maximum concentration using plume model is at closer distance than the puff model. At plume models, the greater the wind speed, the distance of downwind direction required to reach the safe limit will become longer. While the puff models, the greater the wind speed, the distance of downwind direction required to reach the safe limit will be shorter.
